The main component of Prepare/Enrich is an online assessment each partner completes individually. This is not just any assessment though. The items you respond to focus on long-standing, evidence-based research and are intended to be used as the basis for a combination of counseling and training aimed at improving relationship satisfaction..
Built on a solid foundation of scientific research from psychology, counseling and the social sciences, Prepare/Enrich has been improved and refined over the past 30 years to become one of the most widely used and accepted, most effective relationship assessment tools available. It has been used by therapists, counselors, pastors and facilitators to empower and re-energize the relationships of over 3 million couples to date. It helps couples:
At your request, your Banyan Group counselor will register you in the Prepare/Enrich system and send you an online key to take the assessment. Most people are able to complete the assessment in 35 - 45 minutes. Once you've completed the assessment you'll receive a comprehensive report detailing strengths and potential growth areas and challenges you may face in your relationship.
Many special areas unique to your relationship are taken into account as you complete the assessment, such as previous marriages, step-children, faith foundations, stress-coping mechanisms, etc. Based on your answers to the research questions in the assessment, you'll also receive a workbook customized for your unique situation, with individual and couple's exercises designed to increase your knowledge and key skills in areas proven by research to be vital to building stronger marriage and family relationships. All of this information forms a framework for the work you'll do together with your counselor over the next several weeks, as you work through each of the key areas.
At the same time, your counselor will receive a complete facilitator's report through the Prepare/Enrich system, which will form the backbone of your counseling sessions going forward. Your counselor will contact you to make your first appointment and begin working through all the material and content the assessment has provided. Typically we recommend up to 12 sessions to completely work through the content provided and address the most important issues you face as a couple and as a family.

Positive Change: Sometimes those words seem like two opposites, strangely connected in a random phrase. For many people, change is not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of positive things. For many people, families and organizations change is not positive, because it brings discomfort, discord, dysfunction and division. We know it doesn’t have to be that way. And we instinctively believe there must be a way to manage change that brings us to a place of agreement, comfort and unity. But finding that way can be a daunting task.
The Banyan Group is a private, independently organized non-profit practice, dedicated to counseling, coaching and consulting, always with a view to managing change in such a way as to bring positive, helpful and hopeful results.
Perhaps you're visiting our website as part of a search for help in your personal life; or for direction in your career; or maybe as part of a search for help answering some particular questions about the structure, leadership or management of your church or non-profit organization. The Banyan Group provides resources from a wide range of experience and expertise, seeking to add value to what you are already doing in any or all of these areas. We believe in being helpers, not in "reinventing the wheel.” We seek to help our clients discover the missing piece, whether by counseling, coaching or consultation, to get their life, their career or their organization to a place of positive change.
