Banyan Group counselors are certified facilitators with Prepare/Enrich, a nationwide program that leads the way in helping couples explore and strengthen their relationships by identifying key areas for potential growth, strengths they already have and future challenges they may face.

The main component of Prepare/Enrich is an online assessment each partner completes individually. This is not just any assessment though. The items you respond to focus on long-standing, evidence-based research and are intended to be used as the basis for a combination of counseling and training aimed at improving relationship satisfaction and success.Built on a solid foundation of scientific research from psychology, counseling and the social sciences, Prepare/Enrich has been improved and refined over the past 30 years to become one of the most widely used and accepted, most effective relationship assessment tools available.  It has been used by therapists, counselors, pastors and facilitators to empower and re-energize the relationships of over 3 million couples to date.  It helps couples:

  • Identify strength and potential growth areas in their relationship
  • Explore individual personality traits that affect the quality of relationship
  • Strengthen communication skills
  • Target areas where improving communication can increase relationship satisfaction
  • Develop tools to resolve conflicts and reduce stress
  • Compare and understand family backgrounds
  • Comfortably and effectively discuss financial issues
  • Establish personal, couple, and family goals for future success
  • Develop strategies for improving relationships in blended families
  • And much more ...

How Does It Work?

At your request, your Banyan Group counselor will register you in the Prepare/Enrich system and send you an online key to take the assessment.  Most people are able to complete the assessment in 35 - 45 minutes.  Once you've completed the assessment you'll receive a comprehensive report detailing strengths and potential growth areas and challenges you may face in your relationship.

Many special areas unique to your relationship are taken into account as you complete the assessment, such as previous marriages, step-children, faith foundations, stress-coping mechanisms, etc.  Based on your answers to the research questions in the assessment, you'll also receive a workbook customized for your unique situation, with individual and couple's exercises designed to increase your knowledge and key skills in areas proven by research to be vital to building stronger marriage and family relationships.  All of this information forms a framework for the work you'll do together with your counselor over the next several weeks, as you work through each of the key areas.

At the same time, your counselor will receive a complete facilitator's report through the Prepare/Enrich system, which will form the backbone of your counseling sessions going forward.  Your counselor will contact you to make your first appointment and begin working through all the material and content the assessment has provided.  Typically we recommend up to 12 sessions to completely work through the content provided and address the most important issues you face as a couple and as a family.
